PRAIRIE SEA
Katie Miller©2015
I like the sound of gravel
Crunching underneath my tires
I like to feel the wind
Pushing me a little bit farther
I like to see the canola
Blooming in the fields
Come take a ride with me
And we’ll sail along this prairie sea
In the summertime
In the summertime…
I like watching the clouds
Tell their amusing stories
I like to stop and pick the
Saskatoons by the pailful
I like to hear the coyotes
Laughing at their jokes
I like it when the sky
Turns dark in the afternoon, yeah
I like to see the lightning
Flashing all around me
I like to feel the thunder
Thumping through my chest
Won’t you come take a ride with me
In the summertime
And we’ll sail along this prairie sea
In the summertime…

LITTLE BROTHER
Katie Miller ©2015
Hey there little brother, it's big sister on the line
Just wonderin how you're doin tonite
I wish I could tell you that I know what you're feelin
But I've never been down that road before
Don't let me try to give you the answers
Don't let me try to search your soul
Don't let me even begin to try to understand you
But let me be there for you, just let me there
Let me be there
You've always been so close but you sound so far away
Where is this desperate place you have found
I hear what you're sayin but it sounds foreign to me
There is nothing I can say
Let me help to ease your worries
Let me help to heal your pain
Let me help to find a light in all of your darkness
And let me be there for you, just let me there
Let me be there
Hey there little brother, it's big sister on the line

SILVERFLOWER
Katie Miller ©2015
You make me proud, watching you make your way
You’re rising up, rising slowly from the dark muddy water
Where you came from, with your heart wide open
Silverflower, look at how far
How far you’ve come
Oh my silverflower
You are so unaware of the beauty you radiate
You’ve got that way, watching you walk into a room
You draw everybody in, with your heart wide open
Silverflower, look at how far
How far you’ve come
Oh my silverflower

WITHOUT YOU
Katie Miller ©2015
I have given all that I can possibly give
I have brought you all that you could ever wish for and more
I have stressed myself inside out over you
But why, when your eyes show all too clearly
What I didn't see before, so now
I am getting a better point of view
Am I making a little sense to you?
I am making a better life without you
Without you, without you.
You have sat right back and watch me start to fade
You have seen me lose my shine, my shimmer, my joy
You have taken more than I thought ever possible
But how, when I'm supposed to be the stronger one
I think you've made me stronger, so now
I know not to expect any more from you
I know not to wait for empty wishes, promises, they're lies
I know not to try to see a different side of you
But who will you turn to in your darkest hour
You need to be strong for yourself

FIGHT
Katie Miller ©2015
You think you got this hold on me
You think you got some kind of control
But I’m not caving in
I’m not backing down
The gloves are coming off
I’m ready to look you in the eye
I’m ready to fight you all the way
I’m ready to push you out today
Not tomorrow, I’m not gonna wait
I’m not gonna wait another
Dying day
You think that you can kick me down
You think that you can twist my head around
But I’m not caving in
I’m not backing down
The gloves are coming off
I’m ready to look you in the eye
I’m ready to fight you all the way
I’m ready to push you out today
Not tomorrow, I’m not gonna wait
I’m not gonna wait another
Dying day
You think you got this hold on me
You think you got some kind of control
You think that you can kick me down
You think that you can twist my head around

STRONG & FREE
Katie Miller ©2015
Another day in January I’m sittin here
At my frosted window looking out at the cold
The sun dogs are barking at me telling me it’s time
Time to get movin on
In this true north country, there’s got to be
Someone like me, trying to be strong and free
Strong and free, strong and free, strong and free
I step outside and the cold wind greets me like an old friend
Wrestling and pulling me out the door again
Pulling me into that old green truck and how I remember
Not so long ago when I was sittin’ on the other side
Drivin down this snow-drifted road always brings back those stories
About the good old days and that good old hockey game
I know he’s somewhere out there watching over me
I can feel his smile shining down

STILL THE ONE FOR ME
Katie Miller ©2015
It seems a world away
Those drives we used to take
In that rusted out truck, trying not to get stuck
No radio, no stereo
So we’d sing every song we knew
At least a verse or two
And drive out of town, windows rolled down
No hesitation, no destination
We’ll never be as wild and free as
We were at sixteen
Still the one for me
Now we’re living in cruise control
Speeding down life’s rough road
At times feeling jaded, tired out, faded
Losing direction, losing connection
Let’s close our eyes if only for a moment
And fly to the nearest star in the sky
And remember, do you remember when we’d
Sing every song we knew
At least a verse or two
And drive out of town, windows rolled down
No hesitation, no destination
We’ll never be as wild and free as
We were at sixteen
But the road is ours and the nearest star
Isn’t all that far to reach
Believe me, believe me
You’re still the one for me
Still the one for me

EVE
Katie Miller ©2015
Oh Eve, at fifteen stops crying herself to sleep
Oh Eve, workin two jobs and counting her babysitting money
Oh Eve, at four in the morning packing up her suitcase
Oh Eve, running down her street with her guitar and a dream
Don’t lose sight of yourself
Oh Eve, don’t lose sight of yourself
Oh Eve, at sixteen sits on the corner busking
Oh Eve, cold and hungry meets the man of her dreams
Don’t lose sight of yourself
Oh Eve, don’t lose sight of yourself
Oh Eve, at twenty-three stops crying herself to sleep
Oh Eve, workin two jobs and counting all her money
Oh Eve, at four in the morning is packing up her suitcase
Oh Eve, running down her street with her guitar and a dream

TRY
Katie Miller ©2015
It’s a sunny day, I wish I could stay
Stay right by your side and talk the day away
Think a happy thought try not to get caught
Caught up in circles that spin your head around
Nights grow so long, darkness falls upon me now
I should be strong, stronger than I was before
Try to see the sun
Don’t hide, what’s done is done
Try, try, try to see the sun
The story of your life cuts me like a knife
It cuts me down to size and leaves me asking why
Winter’s so cold and I hear the wind outside your window
We’ve got to hold, hold on to each other now
Try to see the sun
Don’t hide, what’s done is done
Try, try, try to see the sun
Nights grow so long, darkness falls upon me now
I should be strong, stronger than I was before
